Boarding Point Change

Introduction: 

Passengers can change the boarding point for their Train journeys via the ixigo app both in the pre-booking or post booking funnel.

Boarding Point is the station from where the customer can board their train and can be different from the origin of the journey. Customer usually choose a different boarding point than origin point, so that they get a confirmed seat in their journey. 


Important Criteria for Changing Boarding Point:

 1. Boarding stations can be changed for tickets booked under any quota other than Current Availability.

2. Change of boarding station post booking, can be done at least 24 hrs prior to scheduled departure and from ixigo Train app only.

3. Boarding stations are not allowed to change for a ticket with the VIKALP option. VIKALP is only available on booking directly IRCTC.

4. If change of boarding station and subsequent cancellation of ticket is done by the user within 24 hours of the train start time from the origin, then he/she will forfeit their refund.

  • Visit the ' Trips' section of the app
  • Select the desired booking, scroll down and navigate to the Boarding Details section
  • Click on Change, Select the desired boarding point and Confirm.

FaQs:

  1. Question - The customer wants to change the boarding station for only a few passengers listed in the PNR? Answer - Boarding station change applies to the entire PNR, so the customer cannot select specific travelers for this change.
  2. Question - Is it possible to change the boarding station for tickets with the VIKALP option? Answer - No, boarding station changes are not allowed for PNRs with the VIKALP option. Also customer can’t make Vikalp bookings with ixigo.
  3. Question - Can I change the boarding station for a current availability ticket? Answer - No, boarding station changes are not permitted for current booking tickets.
  4. Question - Can I change my boarding station more than once? Answer - Yes, you can change your boarding station more than once after booking if you haven’t changed the boarding station at the time of booking.
  5. Question - If I change my boarding station, can I still board the train from the original boarding station? Answer - No, if you change your boarding station, you cannot board the train from the original station.
  6. Question - Can I opt for a previous station as my boarding station? Answer - No, Boarding station can be selected from upcoming stations only from the existing boarding station.
  7. Question - Can I board the train from a station other than my designated boarding station? Answer - No, it is not recommended to board the train from a station other than your designated boarding station. If you choose to do so, it will be at your own risk.
  8. Question - How do I board a train with pets? Answer - Yes, pets can be carried in trains with a nominal charge and observing certain restrictions. One can either carry the pets in a train’s break-van or in First-class passenger compartments. Either way you will need to contact the station master at the boarding station as the process is completely offline.
  9. Question : How to validate if the customer has changed the boarding station post at the time of booking or post booking? Answer - If the existing boarding station is different from the one mentioned in the ticket copy that means the customer has changed the boarding station post booking.
  10. Question - Customer is saying I have changed the boarding station from X to Y, can I revert the same? Answer - No, once the boarding station is changed it can’t be reversed to the original.
